The Japan earthquake and relief fund was started in Washington D.C.by Britt Lakes and has raised over $9,000,000 in funding through the Global Giving Project, to help people in the Japanese community regain their normal lives. The goal of this organization is to help those in Tohoku who have had their lives taken away from them in the two natural disasters. This organization has over 42,000 donators who have helped those in serious need. The organization is now currently working on rebuilding communities and buisnesses that are struggling to get back on their feet. This group has already built homes and built farms to sustain the people who live in the village and are now near their goal of making Tohoku a self reliant town once again.
Why are we doing this?
We as a group hopefully will be something that people who need help can lean on and help them walk for themselves. We also want to show our aloha for those from Hawai’i who have families in Japan who are affected by the Natural disaster. Hopefully by showing our aloha by raising money they can regain their lives again and live normal lives. In Hawaiʻi we have a very close connection to the people in Japan so this project connects the hearts of many.
